WASHINGTON — An armed man was dead after being shot by police in a rescue operation for two women he took hostage at a UPS processing facility in U.S. eastern state of New Jersey on Monday, the authorities said.

OTTAWA — A total of 43 Canadians, including 35 children and eight adults, are hospitalized Monday due to a carbon monoxide leak in an elementary school in Montreal, Canada, according to local media CTV.

ANKARA — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump on Monday discussed Syria issues, including the establishment of a safe zone in northern Syria, amid a diplomatic spat over the U.S. withdrawal from the region.
