The following are news highlights in Zambia’s major media outlets on Wednesday.

–Zambia has officially presented its candidates vying for positions of commissioners at the African Union (AU) to be elected during the forthcoming heads of state and government summit.

Zambia’s Permanent Representative to the AU Susan Sikaneta presented Albert Muchanga and Austin Sichinga as the country’s candidates.

The duo will contest the positions of AU commissioner for trade an industry and commissioner for rural development and agriculture respectively. (Zambia Daily Mail)

–A top French minister has said Zambia was on track in her economic recovery and stabilization program.

Finance Minister Michel Sapin said France is happy with Zambia’s decision to come up with home grown economic management systems aimed at revamping the country’s economy.

France, he said, will support Zambia’s efforts to revive its economy. (Times of Zambia)

–The African Development Bank (AfDB) has secured 35.2 million U.S. dollars to support public-private partnership projects in Zambia as part of its commitment to accelerate development.

Damoni Kitabire, the bank’s representative in Zambia said the bank was supporting structuring and financing of public-private partnership projects not only in Zambia but in Africa as a whole.

The bank would continue to support African countries to create the necessary legal and regulatory frameworks of public-private projects. (Daily Nation) Enditem
