Ayieyam did not score against Japan on Friday

Ghana striker Jane Ayieyam?s magnificent goalscoring run at the FIFA Women?s U-17 World Cup was ended by Japan on Friday.

The Black Maidens were however 1-0 victors in the quarter final match of the World Cup being staged in Azerbaijan.

Ayieyam has scored in every single match up until Friday?s match against the Asians.

The 15-year-old scored in Ghana?s opening group defeat to Germany, was on target again in the 5-0 thrashing of Uruguay in the second game before hitting a brace against China in the final Group D game.

The Ash Town Ladies? striker however failed to get a goal against Japan despite her obvious impressive work ethics on the field of play.

The Black Maidens? defensive approach to the game especially after going ahead in the 53rd minute through Sherifatu Sumaila was also a major factor in Ayieyam?s drawing blank in the game.

She was often seen tracking back to help her teammates at the rear rather than staying put at her usual striking position.

Her immense energy, tenacity and versatility was glaringly brought to the fore in the Japan win ? proving she is an all round player capable of adjusting with changing circumstances.

The same or even improved performance capped with a goal will however be well appreciated from Ayieyam in the semi final clash with France on Tuesday.
