To renovate schools destroyed by rainfall

The Jigawa State government has allocated N869.8million for therefurbishing of206 schools damaged by rainstorm in the state. 

The Commissioner for Information, Youths and Sports, Alhaji Babandi Ibrahim, made this known after the Jigawa Executive Council meeting in Dutse on Wednesday. 

Ibrahim said that the fund for the renovation was sourced from the 2011 first and second quarters of the joint State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and UBE counter fund. 

He added that the council also approved N7.7 million for the Ministry of Women Affairs to purchase 5,000 fabricated firewood economic stoves which willbe distributed to women free of charge. 

According to him, the gesture is to preserve the environment and discourage people from cutting trees.
