John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of Ghana’s National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a passionate plea, urging all eligible individuals, especially 18-year-olds, who have not yet registered to vote, to take part in the ongoing mop-up registration exercise organized by the Electoral Commission.

The registration drive, which commenced on Thursday, August 1, and will conclude on Saturday, August 3, presents a brief but crucial opportunity for eligible citizens to enlist on the electoral roll. The urgency of this window cannot be overstated.

In a statement shared via Facebook, Mr. Mahama stressed the importance of voter registration, highlighting its pivotal role in shaping the nation’s political landscape.

“I want to encourage all 18-year-olds and eligible voters who have not yet registered with the Electoral Commission of Ghana to #RegisterforChange,” Mr Mahama said in his post.

He underscored the transformative power of the ballot, portraying voting as not just a fundamental right, but a potent tool for instigating political change. Mr. Mahama presented a vision of reform, advocating for an alternative to what he characterized as an underperforming and allegedly corrupt government led by the NPP (New Patriotic Party).

“Your vote has the power to change this underperforming and unrepentantly corrupt NPP government,” Mr. Mahama asserted.

“Together, we can bring in a government committed to building the Ghana we all aspire to.”

Mr. Mahama’s appeal comes at a time of heightened political activity as Ghana gears up for its next elections. The importance of these elections cannot be overstated, and your participation is crucial.

His call to action aims to mobilize citizens to register to vote and actively participate in the democratic process.

Welcome to a new month, my fellow Ghanaians, brothers and sisters. The time to reset our dear country is getting close. I want to urge all 18-year-olds, including all eligible voters yet to register with the Electoral Commission of Ghana, to #RegisterforChange.

The mop-up voter registration exercise begins today, August 1st, and ends on Saturday, August 3rd. Three days!

Remember, your vote is not just a right; it’s power—the power to change this non-performing and unrepentantly corrupt NPP government—the power to change and bring in the Mahama government, which is not just promising change but poised to build Ghana we all want together.
