Fifteen new government appointees have been sworn into office for the Jomoro District Assembly (JDA) in Western Region.

They are Mr Joseph Arizi, Mr Joseph Whajah, Mr Benjamin Govinah, Mr James Forbah Bogolo and Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Sampson.

Others are Mr John Nyankey, Mr Samuel Allu, Mr Simon Amoah, Mr Sylvester Armah Kyie and Mr Benle Bezenechie Archer.

The rest are Mr Ernest Kwofie, Mr Kwodwo Nyameke Newman, Nana, Ekpale Twenleboa V, Nana Awuah Enwunli Kpanyinli I and Ms Rose Amponsah.

They sworn the Oath of Allegiance and Secrecy administered by Mr Abdul Majid Illiasu, Magistrate of the Half-Assini District Magistrate Court, at a Special Meeting of the Assembly on Monday at Half-Assini.

In an address, Mr Boffour Ahmed Harunah, District Coordinating Director (DCD), who doubles as the acting District Chief Executive, said the meeting was a legitimate one so members should take it seriously.

He urged the old members of the Assembly to put their expertise at the disposal of the new members for the development of the District.

Mr Harunah said he would be at the helm of affairs until a substantive DCE was appointed and therefore asked for the cooperation of the members to enable him discharge his duties diligently.

The newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr Paul Essien, expressed his appreciation to the people for the confidence reposed in him.

He said he would work across all political divide and not on Party lines and urged the constituents to lend their support.

Mr Moses Andoh, who acted as Presiding Member of the House in his closing remarks appealed to the Management of the Assembly to adhere to the guidelines of the Assembly for smooth administration of the District.

He also urged the Management of the Assembly to endeavour to reconvene the House soon for the election of the Presiding Member for the Assembly.

The House elected Mr Pascal Augustine Nyankey and Mr Emmanuel Nvojo, Assembly Members respectively of Tikobo No1and Ellenda to represent the District on the Regional Electoral College for the election of Council of State member.
