A group known as the Concerned Youth of Jomoro and the Jomoro Development Agenda has voiced staunch support for the proposed Petroleum Hub Development Corporation in the Western Region, stressing its transformative potential for the local economy.

Speaking at a press conference held at Bonyere Junction, Western Region, spokesperson Mark Asmah Arthur highlighted the significant benefits the Petroleum Hub could bring to the Jomoro community. He expressed gratitude for the government’s commitment and emphasized the project’s potential to elevate the area to a hub for petroleum and petrochemical products, akin to Rotterdam in Africa.

Francis Afi Armah, President of the Concerned Youth of Jomoro, echoed these sentiments, underscoring the community’s resolve not to lose out on another transformative opportunity, referring to past setbacks with the Ghana Gas Processing Plant relocation.

The group asserted their readiness to counter any opposition hindering the project’s progress, emphasizing the broad engagement with local stakeholders, including chiefs, elders, and community members. They cited previous experiences where local opposition stalled development projects, adversely affecting the region’s socio-economic activities and job creation.

Highlighting the economic benefits, the group acknowledged the allocation of 20,000 acres of land for the Petroleum Hub. It stressed its potential to create jobs and improve living conditions across Nzema land. They urged swift implementation of the project’s subsequent phases and called for additional investments to expedite development.

In conclusion, the Concerned Youth of Jomoro reiterated their commitment to supporting the government and the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation, urging critics to resist actions that could impede progress. They affirmed their determination to ensure the project’s success and positive impact on the Nzema community.
