While many may prefer to display their Oscars or other trophies in a place that can be seen by a lot of people, Kate Winslet chose a weird place to keep her Oscar. The ?Titanic? actress reveals in a new interview with WSJ magazine that she keeps the gong, which she won for her role in ?The Reader?, in her bathroom.
The 39-year-old English beauty has a good reason for it. ?The whole point is for everybody to pick it up and go, ?I?d like to thank my son and my dad?-and you can always tell when someone has, because they?re in there a little bit longer after they flushed,? she says. ?They?ll come out looking slightly pink-cheeked. It?s hysterical.?
Winslet also talks about her failed marriages to Jim Threapleton (1998-2001) and Sam Mendes (2003-11). ?No one really knows what has happened in my life,? says the actress who will appear in ?Steve Jobs?. ?No one really knows why my first marriage didn?t last; no one knows why my second didn?t. And I?m proud of those silences.?
?I know lots of people who are not in the public eye who have gone through several marriages, I really do, and it?s just those are the cards that life dealt me. I didn?t plan on it being that way. And f**k me, it hasn?t been easy, you know,? she admits.
The mother of three is now happily married to Ned Rocknroll. ?Thank God for Ned ? really,? she sings praise for her third husband. ?He?s just so incredibly supportive, and he?s so much fun. He?s absolutely everything to me. And to all of us.?
