Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya on Wednesday launched a mobile platform to help improve the country’s healthcare sector by prioritizing needs of patients.
Louis Machogu, president of Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya, said the platform encourages participatory and collaborative relationships between providers in the entire health care value chain and the patients.
The platform, known as Green Cross Network, seeks to replace the current medics-centered system that is about dispensing prescription and making sales with one that is more concerned about the wellbeing of the patient.
“This move shifts the role of the healthcare practitioners from transactional to that of ensuring that their service delivery is of value, cost effective and fits the needs and wellbeing of the patients,” said Machogu.
He added that the platform will ensure that all services offered are cost effective and that the patient is living a life of better quality while on medication.
“This move is expected to weed out practicing quacks in the sector that put millions of lives at risk,” said Machogu. Enditem
