The Kenya Model United Nations (KMUN) Secretry-General wishes to invite the press to cover the opening and closing of their Annual General Assembly conference on 5thand 9th March, in conference Room 2 at the United Nations Offices at Nairobi(UNON).
The Director-General of the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), Ms. Sahle-Work Zewde will officially open the conference on 5th March, 2012 from (10 am-10.30 am).
The opening ceremony will also be graced by the Honorable Attorney General, Prof. Githu Muigai and H.E Gil Haskel, Ambassador of Israel who will also give their remarks to the young people.
The theme of the conference is”Sustainable Development: Advancing human progress in line with nature
The Executive Director of UN-HABITAT, Hon. Joan Clos will officially close the conference on 9thMarch, 2012 (1 pm-1.20 pm).
Background
The Kenya Model United Nations is a students’ association drawing members from various corners of the country, established in 2002. KenyaMUN involves itself in activities that seek to channel the enormous youth energy of university students into constructive ventures and to also inculcate the diverse, society-conscious ideologies of the United Nations in them.
700 delegates, drawn from 20 campuses of Kenyan universities and two from Tanzania. will attend the conference.
