Kenya will next week host a meeting on book and reading policies in Africa, ministry of education officials said in a statement on Saturday.

The June 17-19 summit, which has been organized by the Association for the Development of Education in Africa and the African Union Commission and with support from the United States Agency for International Development , aims to support quality education for national development within the continent.

“The workshop will seek to create synergy among practitioners, governments, technical and financial partners, and all relevant stakeholders to work together in formulating and implementing their national book and reading policies, with a special focus on national languages and to support quality education for national development,” the ministry said.

The main objectives of the conference are to discuss a harmonized approach in formulating and enacting national book policies; agree on an inclusive framework for national book and reading policies; and develop a set of principles to guide in national book and reading policy formulation. Enditem
