Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and his visiting Zambian counterpart Hakainde Hichilema on Wednesday signed six Memoranda of Understanding geared toward scaling up the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Kenyan presidency said the bilateral instruments of cooperation were in the field of veterinary and animal health; international relations studies and research; promotion of cooperatives and an MOU between the Kenya Tourism Federation (KTF) and the Tourism Council Zambia (TCZ).
The two countries also inked MoUs between the Kenya Utalii College and the Zambia Institute for Tourism and Hospitality Studies and on cooperation in the field of information, communication and technology, according to a statement issued in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.
“The two leaders agreed that the signing of the instruments of cooperation sets out an extensive framework for the consolidation and deepening of relations for the mutual benefit of the people of the two countries,” it said.
The Zambian leader began his two-day visit to Kenya Wednesday and is expected to visit I-hub, an incubation facility for entrepreneurs and innovators in Nairobi and the Maramba tea factory Thursday.
Kenya and Zambia enjoy historical warm and cordial diplomatic relations that have existed since the two countries became independent. Both countries are members of several international organizations including the United Nations, African Union, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Commonwealth and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa.
