The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) turnover surged 264 percent on Tuesday as the market recorded positive gains.
Equity turnover stood at 6.9 million U.S. dollars on a volume of 20 million shares from 8 million shares worth 1.9 million dollars on Monday.
The turnover was boosted by foreigners, who raised both buys and sales by 574 percent and 659 percent respectively, with overall participation standing at 66 percent.
Similarly, the NSE 20 Share Index reversed a negative trend to rise 7.18 points and stand at 3,817.04 in the trading.
The index was boosted by rise in share prices of Kenya Commercial Bank, Equity Group, Cooperative Bank and Centum Investment, which rose by between 0.5 percent and 1 percent. On the other hand, the All Share Index gained to close at 193.20 from 193.06.
The most traded stocks were Equity Bank, moving 6.6 million shares, followed by Barclays Bank 5.3 million shares, Safaricom 2.1 million share, Kenya Power 2 million shares and CIC Insurance 951,000 shares.
At the bond market, turnover declined to 16 million shares on Tuesday from 46 million shares in the previous session. Enditem
