It was during an operation at Jungal, some 30 northwest of Bardhere city, by AMISON and the Somali troops, according to Kenya Defence Force spokesman Colonel David Obonyo.
“The terrorists were attacked when their vehicle a Toyota Surf got stuck after hot pursuit by three AMISOM troops,” Obonyo said in a statement issued in the capital Nairobi.
He refuted media reports that there were casualties on the Kenyan soldiers’ side in an ambush by the militants in Billis Quocane and Tadba regions in southern Somalia.
“The attack was repulsed and there were no casualties on KDF,” he said.
Kenyan troops are currently involved in the AU’s operations against Al-Shabaab in southern Somalia.
Kenya, neighbouring Somalia, faces Al-Shabaab threats as attacks by the group over the years in Nairobi and the northeastern region have claimed more than a hundred lives. Enditem
