Torgbui Tenge Dzokoto Gligui VII, Paramount Chief of the Amugo-Vego Traditional Area and Dufia of Anyako-Konu, unveiled a renal dialysis center at the Keta Municipal Hospital in the Volta Region. This facility, worth thousands of Ghana cedis, represents a significant milestone in healthcare provision for the community, aimed at alleviating the challenges faced by kidney patients in accessing dialysis services.

During the inauguration ceremony at the Keta Municipal Hospital, Torgbui Tenge Dzokoto Gligui, the Head of the Bate Clan, emphasized that the dialysis unit is more than just a physical structure. He articulated that it is a place where compassion and action converge, providing tangible hope to those battling kidney disease. Quoting Dr. Paul Farmer, a renowned medical anthropologist and physician, Torgbui Tenge Dzokoto Gligui reminded the audience, “The idea that some lives matter less is the root of all that’s wrong with the world.” This powerful statement, he noted, continues to inspire his commitment to improving healthcare access for all, regardless of their circumstances.

The chief highlighted that the establishment of the dialysis unit is also a symbol of a future where every individual, regardless of their background, will have access to the quality healthcare and support they deserve. He expressed hope that this initiative would inspire the public to work together in overcoming challenges and fostering a society where every person is valued and cared for.

“As we cut the ribbon today,” Torgbui Tenge Dzokoto Gligui remarked, “let us remember the faces of those who will benefit from this facility. This center stands as a promise that we will not turn our backs on those in need.”

He also took the opportunity to commend his wife, Mama Tenge, his children, and the medical professionals whose dedication made the establishment of the unit possible. He urged the hospital staff and the community to take good care of the facility, emphasizing the importance of maintenance to ensure its sustainability and continued service to the community.
