The residents of Osu Kinkanwe electoral area in the Korle Klottey municipality have met their aspirants for the ongoing district assembly and unit committee elections to hear their developmental plans of the aspirants and to ask them questions.

They are three people contesting for the Assembly Member position and 15 people for unit committee members which recorded the highest number of people contesting for the unit committee as compared to the previous elections.

The contesters for the Assembly Members are the in cumber Hon. Henry Kotei Kotey, George Annan and Josephe Oko Adokwei the CEO of Liles of Filed Academy.

When Ghana News Agency caught up with the three aspirants to find out more about their developmental plans for the people when given the nod, this is what the three aspirants have to say.

Honorable Henry Kotei Kotey, the current Assemble Member urged his people to give him another chance to continue his work.

He said that he is the only Assembly member who has worked with the unit committee members without encounter any problems and as a result the number has increased to 15.

“ I’m the only Assembly Member who is able to work with my unit committee members without problems and as a result people have shown interest in contesting for the unit committee, and the number have increased from 5, 6, to 15.”

“I listen to my unit committee members; send them to programmes, conferences to go and participate and to acquire knowledge and ideas for the benefit of our electorates.”

He said is not the duty for the Assembly member to ensure that people should not throw refuses into the gutters but is the responsibilities for every citizen.

“ Is not the duty of the Assembly Member only to ensure that people do not throw refuses any how especially in the gutters but it is the responsibilities for every citizens. I told my people that if they see anybody throwing refuses into the gutters report that person to the Assembly.

Assembly member is just a leader in the community so everybody should support the Assembly member so that the work will go well.”

Mr. George Annan who is a teacher by profession said with his experience in the field of teaching he will organize extra classes free for the pupils every Saturdays.

“ As a teacher by profession I will tackle education first, by organizing extra classes free for the basic schools level every Saturdays including the Kayaye children who are at Tema Station because they are part of my electoral area. I will also provide free mosquitoes net for their mothers, and then when I see that a Kayaye child is brilliant then I give him or her sponsorship.”

He said that the Assembly has a very big land he will use part of it with the help of his NGOs on board to build a library for effective studies. He said that the sea is also another source of income especially week ends he will make accounts of the money to the elders in the communities and they used it to develop the areas.

Mr. Annan added that when elected into power he will talk to the Tema Station GRTU heads to contribute quota to the assembly so that the assembly can used it for developmental projects.

“Tema Station is part of my electoral area I will talk to the GRTU heads then we put things on paper that whenever bus enter in the station at least they should contribute a quota to the assembly every month, so that we can use that money to enhance quality education, street light among others.”

Mr. Joseph Oko Adowei also noted that when given the chance he will expand his work to the electoral area in terms of job for the youth, education for the less privilege and sanitation.

“ I have my NGO in the area where I’m doing a lot of work already, I want to expand it when given the nod. My works are job for the youth, education for the less privilege pupils and sanitation.” One of my sponsors in abroad will be cutting sod for the constructing of school next year February and if given the nod I will work with my municipal to extend it to other communities,” he added.

“My NGOs organize vocational training for the people who drop out from school and cannot continue. I do mobilize the youth to clean the environment and I provide them with tools. I don’t pay the youth for the cleanup but at the end of the cleaning I motivate them with something.” He said.
