During Klejoo, rituals are performed to usher in the Homowo festival, the main festival of the Ga and some Dangbe communities in the Greater Accra Region.
Custom demands that the Paramount chief, his sub chiefs and their traditional subjects perform the needed rites and rituals to pave way for the Homowo festival.
The Paramount chief and his sub chiefs as well as the various traditional players visited the main Deity in the town to pay homage and seek its guidance throughout the season.
They also visited other lesser deities spreaded across the shores and then finally converged again at the main town where the Paramount chief as part of custom, endured abusive words by the various “action” groups in the town.
The action groups made up of both local males and females compose special songs to praise or criticise the actions of those in traditional authority.
Hundreds of people thronged the main town square to catch a glimpse of the rites, rituals and procession of the chiefs and priests.
