KOSSA Express Shock About Media Reports

The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital?s Senior Staff Association (KOSSA), has expressed shock about media reports that Dr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah Minister of Health has reinstated the dismissed Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital.

?We describe it as a rumour because we have not officially or accidentally sighted the said letter, ?a statement issued by Charles Ofei-Palm, KOSSA President, in Accra and copied to Ghana News Agency said.

?We maintain that any action contrary to the earlier directives issued by Ms Sherry Ayittey (Former Health Minister) on July 7? attempting to reinstate Okpoti can best be described as glorifying wrongdoing and wanton disrespect of established authority and the rule of law.?

The statement said ironically the reinstating statement was deemed to have been made by the Minister on his first day in office.

?One may ask what the Minister learned in a day to warrant the setting aside of earlier directives that were thought through, investigated and tested against established standards.

?We want to believe that Ghana is not a lawless nation where certain individuals are deemed to be above the law such that they can break the law with impunity and get rewarded.

?The hardworking staff of the hospital have refused to condone corruption and wrongdoing and have exposed the supposed powerful people despite the victimisation, intimidations and threats to their lives,? the statement said.

It said patients, staff, clients and stakeholders of the hospital are looking up to Dr Agyemang-Mensah the Minister to erase the erroneous perception that is gaining grounds that he has buckled under the pressure of the ?supposed powerful people? on the Board.

The statement said: ?The one week truce requested by the Minister ends on Tuesday July 29, 2014 and in the unlikely event that anything untoward happens in the hospital, the blame rests squarely on the Minister. The public should take note and we know the good people of Ghana are watching.? GNA
