Asante Kotoko came from a goal down to clinch a 3-2 victory over Division One side, Istanbul F.C, in the Round 16 clash of the MTN FA Cup at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi, on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors, have thus advanced to the quarter-final stage of the competition.
Istanbul gave Kotoko some scary moments, when they took the lead in the 29th minute with Felix Addo scoring with a scissor-kick to beat goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye in a goal-mouth scramble.
The Porcupine Warriors accepted the challenge, varied their game plan and managed to snatch the equalizer nine minutes later, courtesy Aminu Mohammed who connected home a Stephen Oduro pass to end the first half.
Larbi Coomson scored Kotoko?s second goal two minutes into the second half, but Istanbul?s Eric Adjei fetched the equalizer in the 71st minutes to throw the game open.
The Tema-based club, drawing inspiration from this equalizer went all out to upstage their opponents however, just as they looked to be threatening, Kotoko?s Aziz Yussif stunned them by scoring the third goal for the Porcupine Warriors in the 86th minute to secure the much needed qualification for the premier league leaders.
