Kotoko’s victory came from Frimpong’s corner

Asante Kotoko S/C secured all three points at stake with a slim 1-0 win over in-form visiting Wa All Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi, on Wednesday.

Skipper Amos Frimpong fetched the only goal for the Porcupine Warriors from a Samuel Kyere freekick in the 67th minute.

This was after substitute Dauda Mohammed was brought down for an infringement.

The crunchy encounter saw the two combatants ending the first half goalless with most of the action concentrated in the midfield, but Kotoko looked the more purposeful side in the second half and added more bite to the attack after Dauda replaced Obed Owusu, whiles Kwadwo Poku substituted Stephen Nyarko.

The changes brought some bite into Kotoko’s play and pressed their opponents in their half and was rewarded with the only goal of the match.

Wa All Stars came strongly into the match in the last quarter of the game and substitute Paul Asare Devries nearly leveled the scores for the visitors on 85th minute, but goalie Ernest Sowah parried his long-range shot to safety to ensure victory for kotoko.
