The concern citizens of Kotoku have proposed Mr Odartei Mohammed-Jonas Malam Newlove (a.k.a Agoogo) to contest for the forthcoming assembly members’ election for the area.

Mr Emmanuel Nii Lamptey, the spokesperson for the group, said their proposed assemblyman is a development-oriented person, who would help in the provision of social amenities in the area.

The proposal was made at a cocktail party by the youth at Kotoku in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region where they used the occasion to plan for forums and house-to-house campaigns to win votes for their candidate.

Mr Newlove said when elected he would unite the youth to undertake projects to raise the living standard of the citizenry of Kotoku while helping children of school going age to be in school.

“I will manage to woo non-governmental organisations to provide scholarships for students who are brilliant but poor to ensure that they continue their education, because education is key for the development and economic growth of the society,” he said.

The Ghana news Agency (GNA) was established on March 5, 1957, i.e. on the eve of Ghana's independence and charged with the "dissemination of truthful unbiased news". It was the first news agency to be established in Sub-Saharan Africa. GNA was part of a comprehensive communication policy that sought to harness the information arm of the state to build a viable, united and cohesive nation-state. GNA has therefore been operating in the unique role of mobilizing the citizens for nation building, economic and social development, national unity and integration.
