Finally,the Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Samuel Sarpong, has officially inaugurated the Nana Afua Kobi Market, popularly known as ?Abinkyi?, built for traders ejected from the old Race Course area.
This will help stopped the woes of traders who were ejected from the race course to make way for the yet to begin Sunshine project.
Constructed by ?T and K? Construction Limited and with funding from the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), private companies and individuals,the market has 2,500 lockable stores, 6,000 sheds and facilities for a police post, a fire service, banks, an information centre and washrooms.
The Akyempimhene, Oheneba Adusei Poku, gave the KMA high marks for the successful completion of the market.He also called on hawkers to desist from trading at illegal places.
