A recent dialogue between Kusasi youth leaders and the Ghana Police Service has paved the way for reconciliation in the Kusaug Traditional Area, marking a turning point after tensions escalated into violent clashes.

The mediation, spearheaded by the Zug-Raan of Kusaag, Bawku Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, encouraged both sides to prioritize peace and cooperation in restoring stability.

In a statement issued on April 19, 2025, the Zug-Raan Palace confirmed that the Kusaag Advisory Council’s intervention had successfully fostered mutual understanding. As part of the agreement, youth leaders have launched a sensitization campaign across the area’s six districts and municipality to promote collaboration with law enforcement.

The Zug-Raan expressed gratitude to the youth for their willingness to engage and commended the police for their professionalism. “He assures the police of their safety and the safety of their families,” the statement read, acknowledging the officers’ efforts to resume policing services. Signed by Secretary David Adoliba, the message underscored a shared commitment to lasting peace.

The breakthrough follows heightened unrest in the region, where strained relations between communities and security forces had disrupted daily life. The dialogue’s success highlights the critical role of traditional leadership in conflict resolution, offering a model for addressing similar disputes elsewhere in Ghana.

As trust-building measures take hold, residents hope the accord will translate into sustained stability, allowing economic and social activities to flourish. The outcome also reinforces the importance of inclusive dialogue in resolving tensions between civilians and security agencies. Authorities now face the task of ensuring that the agreement’s spirit is upheld through continued engagement and transparency.
