Mr Henry Korang-Fosu, a sustainable environment campaigner in the Techiman Municipality, has called on landlords to plant trees to serve as wind shields in their environment.
Mr Korang-Fosu, who is a Director of Friends of Trees and River Bodies (FTRB) in Techiman, said besides assisting to prevent the incidence of wind and rainstorms, the move would help in controlling soil erosion.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, he said varieties like: militia, bredia, canoia and mango amongst others as some of the species of trees that could act as windbreaks and help control soil erosion.
Mr Korang-Fosu urged individuals and groups, particularly within the Techiman Municipality and neighbouring Municipalities and Districts in need of seedlings and technical advice, to contact the office of FTRB for assistance.
He also called on the youth to consider the lucrative area of tree farming saying seedlings of economic trees such as cashew could be obtained from the Municipal and District Directorates of Agriculture.
