Lee Carsley has been appointed as the interim manager of the England senior team for the upcoming Nations League matches in September following Gareth Southgate’s departure.
Carsley, previously the England Under-21 manager, will lead the team after Southgate resigned following England’s defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final.
A former Premier League midfielder with experience at Derby and Everton, Carsley has managed Coventry, Brentford, and Birmingham on a caretaker basis, leading England Under-21s to a European Championship title in 2023.
Carsley aims to provide continuity and focus on promotion in the UEFA Nations League while the FA searches for a permanent replacement.
