Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has stressed the need for African governments to promote good governance, paving the way for the accelerated development of their respective countries.

Speaking on the theme ?Good Governance and Development? at a?Fundraising Breakfast Forum of the Our Lady Star of the Sea Cathedral Catholic Church in Takoradi, as part of its centenary celebrations, Mr. Kufuor averred that good governance is a prerequisite of development and should be the yardstick with which African governments should be measured.

He expressed regrets that some African countries were not developing and had sluggish economies because of bad governance.

He ?spoke in strong terms about the need for peace before, during and after the December elections so that the development of the nation would continue to improve and raise the living standards of the people, urging?stakeholders to play their roles well to ensure that the peace the country was enjoying was maintained.
