Let’s sustain Agro-Business to attract investors – Asabee

Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng, the Director General of the State Interest and Governance Authority (SIGA) has called on the Government to commit resources in making the agricultural sector attractive to investors.

He said the agricultural sector remained paramount to the growth and development of the country and thus needed to be sustained for the nations good.

Mr Boateng made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Cape Coast at the celebration of the 37th National Farmers’ Day on going in Cape Coast , the Central Regional capital.

On youth in agro business, he said as the population kept increasing, the need for jobs was important thus called on the youth to vent into agriculture to enhance the boost the economy.

He called on political leaders to promote the agro business among their constituent to support the government in that direction.

The Director General reteirated that mordenising the business was needed to support farmers and fisherfolks to put out their best in promoting the country locall products internationally.

He said the Government must subsidize inputs, assist extension officers and supply more fertilizers to improve the agro business in the country

Mr Boateng applauded the Government for the numerous flagship programmes rolled out the country to enhance the agric business.

Adding that the one District, One Factory (1D1F), Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) among others had created more opportunities and avenues in the county but called on them to implement more.

On relationship between SIGA and Agriculture, Mr Boateng said his outfit had a major role in promoting agricultural in the country

He said SIGA was working closely with the relevant stakeholders in the business to support Ghanaians patronize made in Ghana products to enhance the business.

Mr Boateng encouraged Ghanaians to patronize Ghana to help the improvement of the Afro business in the country.
