Malian transitional prime minister, Choguel Kokalla Maiga, on Friday formed his transitional government of 25 ministers and three minister delegates, Malian presidential office announced, citing a presidential decree signed by Malian transitional president Assimi Goita.
The new transitional government includes four military officers, including Sadio Camara as Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs.
His absence, together with that of Modibo Kone who was Minister of Security and Civil Protection, in the team formed by Moctar Ouane on May 24, resulted in the arrest of the transitional president Bah N’Daw and his prime minister.
However, Modibo Kone is still not chosen to enter this new transitional government, while the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection is now assigned to another military officer Daoud Aly Mohammedine.
As for the Movement of June 5-Rally of Patriotic Forces (M5-RFP), whose head of the Strategic Committee is the transitional prime minister Choguel Kokalla Maiga, only one member Ibrahim Ikassa Maiga is nominated as Minister for the Refoundation of the State, in charge of Relations with Institutions.
The appointment of a civilian prime minister and the formation of an inclusive government were among the measures strongly recommended by the leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) during their extraordinary summit on Mali, held on May 30 in Accra, Ghana.
After being sworn in before the Supreme Court on June 7 as the new transitional president, Assimi Goita named Choguel Kokalla Maiga from M5-RFP as transitional prime minister, in charge of forming a new transitional government. Enditem
