The Local Accountability Network of the STMA has educated first time voters in Takoradi Technical Institute on the need to vote on issues and not monetary and other forms of inducements by Political parties

Giving and receiving monies, fridges, pans, television, coal pots, clothes, rice, oils among other enticement seemed to become the preferred means by which Political parties get the votes of Ghanaians rather than quality investments in the socio-economic lives of the citizens and issued based politicking.

Mr. Justice Ennin, the Western Regional Director of the NCCE told the students to help change the bad narratives in Ghana’s Politics.

He advised, “Don’t take monies as first voters, let help to change these narratives…Ghana is not poor but corrupt practices is our bane to infrastructure and economic development.

He added that underage voting was also a crime and prayed that the first voters adhered to all electoral regulations to ensure integrity at the polls.

Madam Esther Nyantakyi, the Market Women representative on LANeT said Ghanaians over the period had encouraged politicians to be corrupt by demanding and collecting from them.

He entreated the new generation to be vigilant about the future of the country and do their best to advance its development.

Madam Mercy Quarhsie, a member of LANeT urged the students to resist, reject and report corruption to save the dwindling fortunes of the country.

Mr. Ebo Barker, LANet Focal Person was grateful to partners in the UK, Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition and the Ghana Transparency Initiative for project.
