Lutheran Media Ministry Ghana (LMMG) in partnership with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana (ELCG) climaxed their Easter celebrations with fun games at the Legon Ajax Park in Accra.
The one day event saw 6 branches of the E.L.C.G from Accra competing in a 100 meter race, 50 meter walk, thread and needle race, filling the bottle competition, musical chairs, draw your sword, sack race, ludo, draft, cards, table tennis, tag of peace, lime and spoon race and soccer
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) sports, Mr. Ekow Coleman, Board Chairman, LMMG, said as part the church’s 500 years of reformation celebrations they decided to organize the fun games to commemorate the Easter day.
“The purpose of our gathering here forms part of our Easter celebration and our 500 years of reformation, when Martin Luther broke away from the Catholic Church, setting the pace for other churches to be born.
“We are here to celebrate, have fun and socialize with other branches of the church.
“We are exercising as well through the many activities we are having here today to keep us healthy and active”.
Mr Coleman urged Ghanaians to remain resolute in the Lord, saying that, “Christ has risen and we should all keep on leaning unto him…he is the author and finisher of our faith and once we continue believing in him he will bless and keep Ghana strong”.
Madam Olivia Akumani-Adegbe, Audience Relations Manager, LMMG, said the LMMG was involved in outreach programmes in deprived communities.
“Every year we organize such games in partnership with the ELCG to bring the various branches together to fellowship and have fun games to buttress the point that exercising the body is a requirement of good health.
“October this year will be exactly 500 years since the reformation, which gave birth to all the Lutheran churches and the fun games was to create an awareness of that reformation”.
The six branches that participated in the one day reformation fun games are the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Kanda, All Saints Lutheran Church Anyaa, St. Michael Lutheran Church Budumburam Kasoa, St. Peters Lutheran Church Madina and Grace Lutheran Church Dome.
