John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has asserted that the current administration’s pervasive bribery and corruption would have led to a coup if the NDC were in power.

Speaking to a passionate crowd in Accra, Mahama criticized the state of accountability and expressed frustration with what he described as widespread hypocrisy among those overseeing government actions.

“If the level of bribery and corruption we are witnessing under this government had occurred during the NDC’s tenure, we would have experienced a coup by now,” Mahama declared.

He accused many of failing to acknowledge or address the government’s misconduct, attributing this to a broader culture of hypocrisy.

Mahama expressed confidence in the NDC’s forthcoming victory in the 2024 elections but warned that voices critical of the current administration would resurface once the NDC assumed power.

“I am certain that the NDC will win the 2024 elections. However, those who have been silent about the government’s failings will suddenly find their voices again,” he said.

He emphasized the need for honesty and transparency, regardless of who is in office. “Hypocrisy is holding this nation back. We must be truthful at all times.

If something is wrong, it is terrible, whether black or white. Our commitment must be to the truth, not political convenience,” Mahama added.
