John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has assured Ghanaians of his commitment to maintaining peace in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections.
Mahama emphasised his dedication to a peaceful electoral process by addressing the 31st Biennial General Council meeting of the Assemblies of God Church at the CK Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) in Navrongo, Upper East Region.
“As we approach another election, there is often a sense of apprehension that things might go wrong.
As a member of your church, I can assure you that I am a person of peace.
If there is any violence, it will not come from me. I will do everything I can to ensure that Ghana remains peaceful,” Mahama said.
He underscored that political power should not come at the expense of the safety and well-being of Ghanaians.
“Resorting to violence means harming the very people you aim to govern. No drop of Ghanaian blood is worth political power or achieving office,” he stated.
Mahama’s remarks were met with applause from over 2,500 pastors and delegates, both local and international, who expressed their appreciation for his commitment to a peaceful election.
