A 64 year-old man has pleaded guilty to a charge of defiling an 8- year old kindergarten pupil at Sapaima, a suburb of Accra.
Kojo Owusu a borehole digger who lives at Pokuase pleaded guilty to the offence when he was put before an Accra Circuit court presided over by Judge Ivy Heward-Mills.
The prosecuting officer, Chief Inspector I.A.A Ahor narrating the incident to the court said, on September 2012 at about 4pm, an elder sister of the defiled victim informed their father that a man had defiled her younger one.
He said, further interrogation of the victim whose name was given as Stella, mentioned Kojo Owusu as the man who defiled her.
However, the father of the victim found out that, the accused person had abandoned the work he was doing in the area and gone to hiding after committing the offence.
The court was informed that, on September 2012, some residents in the community who had heard about the defilement arrested Kojo Owusu and handed him over to the father of the victim who also took the accused person to the Amasaman police station.
At the police station the father of the victim was issued a medical form to take the victim to the hospital after a complaint of the offence.
After Amasaman Government Hospital has examining the girl and endorsed the medical form, and investigations conducted
Kojo Owusu was charged with offence following his admission of the case.
The court differed his sentence to October 4, 2012.
