A TRADER who engaged his lover in a fight and bit her lower lip after she informed him that she was no longer interested in their relationship, has been remanded into police custody.

The accused person, Kwame Brobbey, who allegedly threatened to kill the woman for taking such a decision, was yesterday put before an Accra Circuit Court on two charges of causing harm and threat of death.

After pleading guilty to the charges, the court ordered that he be remanded to reappear on October 16, 2013 for sentencing.

The prosecutor, DSP Emelia Asante, disclosed to the court presided over by Wilhelmina Hammond that the complainant and the accused are traders and lovers living together.

According to her, they have been in the relationship for six months.

In the course of the relationship, the complainant observed that Kwame was a quick tempered person who often threatened her with death at the least provocation.

The complainant, the prosecutor said, decided to end the relationship but Kwame did not take the decision kindly.

The prosecutor narrated that on September 14, while the complainant was selling at Kantamanto market, the accused went and picked a quarrel with his girlfriend without any prosecution.

In the course of the quarrel, the accused attacked the lady and bit her lower lip, resulting in a deep cut.

After the incident, the complainant reported the matter to the Anyaa Police where she was issued with a medical form to attend hospital.

DSP Asante stated that the accused went to the house of the complainant, and in the presence of witnesses in the matter, he threatened to kill her with a cutlass and a broken bottle.

Brobbey was subsequently arrested and upon interrogation, he admitted the offence in his caution statement.
