A Cape Coast Circuit Court on Thursday sentenced a 29 year-old unemployed man to three months imprisonment for stealing from a church in Cape Coast.

The convict, Felix Koufie also known as Kwabena Manu, stole 11 plastic chairs, iron rods and canopies worth Gh¢720.00.

He pleaded guilty to the charges of stealing and unlawful entry and was convicted on his own plea.

Prosecuting, Sergeant Iddrisu Yakubu told the Court, presided over by Mrs. Gloria Mensah Bonsu that, the complainant Mr. Blesslord Godsway is a businessman and a member of the Anointed Fire Church.

He said Godsway lives at commercial street in Cape Coast whilst Manu lives around King Aggrey street in Cape Coast.

The Prosecution said on Thursday, January 31, at about 1900hrs Godsway went to the church building which is still under construction.

He said the complainant detected that two sets of canopies valued at Gh¢340.00, twelve pieces of iron rods worth Gh¢160.00 and eleven plastic chairs costing Gh¢220.00, belonging to the church had gone missing.

He said the complainant decided to search for the items within the community, where an informant told him that Manu had earlier that day sold some plastic chairs to one Joe Biney.

The Prosecution said on Sunday, February 3, Manu was arrested by the Police and during interrogation he confessed stealing the chairs but denied knowledge about the canopies and iron rods.

The convict mentioned Biney and his wife as the people he sold the chairs to, and led the police to arrest them.
