The Kumasi-based Gender Court has sentenced a man, who defiled an under-aged girl, resulting in a pregnancy, to seven years imprisonment in hard labour.

Clement Ibrahim, 22, and unemployed, was convicted after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

Police Chief Inspector Philip Yao Bebli, told the court presided over by Mrs Rita Agyeman-Budu that the crime was committed about seven months ago .

Ibrahim had met the 14-year junior high school (JHS) victim, who lives at Atwima-Boko with the mother, and fell for his bait of taking her to Europe to get defiled.

She became pregnant and after she informed the convict, he promised to terminate it.

The prosecution said the victim became scared, could no longer keep things to herself and told the mother everything she had to know.

A formal complaint was consequently made to the police and he was arrested.

Chief Inspector Bebli said doctors in a signed medical report confirmed that the girl was 23 weeks pregnant. GNA
