Damon and Pedro Pascal play European mercenary soldiers in the film, coming to China to fight next to one another for money. But Chinese soldiers’ battle against monsters on the Great Wall made Damon devote himself to this greater cause to save humanity. Willem Dafoe’s character in the film is an opportunist detained by the Chinese army for 25 years and tries to escape while stealing Chinese weapons.
“The Great Wall,” China’s most expensive movie and a collaboration among China Film Co. Ltd., LeVision Pictures, Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures, will hit Chinese theaters on Dec. 16, 2016 and be released in the United States on Feb. 17, 2017.
