McDan Open West Africa Championship Slated For April 24

Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) in partnership with McDan Shipping Company would stage the 2017 McDan Open West Africa Championship on Monday April 24, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

TennisThe bank announced their partnership during a press briefing in Accra on Friday as the official bank for the event as part of efforts to promote tennis in the country.

The Director of Marketing and Communications of UMB Yvonne Botchey said the bank desires to associate with the sport “because of the Bank’s core value of speed”.

She said since speed is linked with tennis, which is in line with the bank’s operations, the partnership would help in the development of the sport in the country.

“We are also committed to healthy living, exercise and fun and so we are committed to working with McDan in organising the championship.” she stated.

Mr. Jeffery Odammey Yeboah also of the UMB, said the bank would support the sport to ensure that great talents are nurtured to become world champions in future.

“The likes of Serena Williams could emerge from our part of the country with this annual competition”. He noted.
