The Chief Executive (MCE) of Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly, Aminu Mohammed Zakari, popularly known as MZ, has organized a sensitization programme to educate residents of the community on how to address the sanitation menace in the municipality.
The move is was in line with the President’s agenda of making Accra the cleanest city in Africa by educating the residents to appropriately disposed of waste in the community.
According to him, though the Assembly is barely a year old, management has taken the position to work hard with every sector and individual to ensure that sanitation problem in the area are properly addressed.
He disclosed that, the municipal was previously under the care of Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) but due to its vast nature, nothing much has been done in terms of sanitation and therefore it was demarcated and the municipality was handed over to assembly in order to address the sanitation challenges and other problems confronting the constituency.
“ at first, this area was under AMA but was divided by the present government because its too big and this portion was given to us and so, we must ensure its safety and cleanliness,” he said.
He, therefore said, a vibrant task-force has being set up, which includes the employees of the assembly, community members and departmental heads of the assembly to oversee and help tackle the sanitation problems in the community.
He advised the people in the community to see sanitation as problematic and support government to tackle it in order to make the President’s vision achievable and to ensure a clean environment.
