The Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports (MCGES) is partnering with Martin’s International for the 38th International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA).
This is the second year the Ministry has pledged it support for the event, coming onboard as the venue sponsor of the AC Marriott Hotel, host venue of the awards show slated for March 29, 2020 in Kingston, Jamaica, the birth place of Reggae Music.
Notably, this will be the second time in its history that the event is being held in Kingston, which was designated by UNESCO, a music city in 2015.
The Ministry’s support for 38th IRAWMA further strengthens the mission of the show which acknowledges and honors the accomplishments and contributions of Reggae and World Music artists, including; songwriters, performers, promoters and musicians.
The event which is set to attract hundreds of fans, entertainers and supporters will turn the spotlight on Kingston and the strong cultural and entertainment offerings in the city according to Ephraim Martin, President of Martin’s International Foundation.
He also stated that music fans and entertainers traveling to Jamaica for the event, will enjoy a weekend of Island fun in the sun and share in the red carpet and black – tie special made for television, 38th Annual IRAWMA which will be post televised on CBS/NBC TV and other global broadcasts.
On December 1, 2019 nominations for Reggae and World Music experts and others in the entertainment industry opened online for preliminary nominations for the best of 2019. The nomination process will run through to January 20, 2020. Artists from Jamaica, the wider Caribbean, the African continent and the rest of the world will be nominated for awards in over thirty categories.
In addition to the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports (MCGES) endorsement, IRAWMA acknowledges VP Records, IRIE FM, DSR, 25th Century Radio, and IRIE Jam 360 as supporting sponsors.
