Following the directive of the National Industrial Court (NIC), stranded patients in government hospitals nationwide may begin to heave a sigh of relief as the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) has directed all its members nationwide to continue to provide services to the patients.

MDCAN?s president and secretary general, Dr Steven Oluwole and Dr A. A. Adeosun in a statement in Ibadan yesterday, urged members and individual consultants to ?exercise their professional judgement as to the best care feasible and practicable in the current situation.?

They stated that the decision to attend to patients by the association was reached at an emergency meeting of the association in Ilorin on July 5.

Oluwole disclosed that the association had resolved to comply fully with the restraining order on all parties in a judgement delivered at the National Industrial Court, Abuja by Justice M. N. Esowe on June 27 which ordered MDCAN not to proceed on strike in the Motion Ex-Parte for an Order of Interim Injunction in Suit No. NICN/ABJ/177/2014.
