Malik Akowuah has gone AWOL from AshantiGold
Medeama have denied reports suggesting they are harbouring midfielder Malik Akowuah who has been declared missing by AshantiGold.
AshGold CEO Kudjo Fianoo confirmed the midfielder whose contract runs out in August cannot be found in Obuasi.
The 23-year-old is reported to have signed a pre-contract with Medeama and would join the Tarkwa-based side at the end of the season.
AshGold officials are claiming the former Ghana U23 midfielder has been lured by Medeama insisting they would report the incident to the Ghana Football Association.
?We have the instance of Charles Taylor and Alex Asamoah in Ghana so you will hear from us in due course,? Fianoo told an Accra-based radio station Peace FM.
However, Medeama insist the workaholic midfielder has only expressed interest in joining the club but they are yet to meet him.
?He expressed interest in join Medeama, we have not signed any contract with him and he is not in Tarkwa,? Albert Commey, Executive vice president of Medeama said.
?I?m in Tarkwa as we speak but I have not seen him around. Their claims are baseless.?
Medeama have reportedly agreed a two-year deal with Akowuah while AshGold were keen to get him to renew his contract with the club.
