Melcom: Gives Birth to its 38th Branch in Achimota

Melcom Group of Companies has taken another giant step by commissioning a magnificent retail shopping Centre at Ahimota, in Accra.
The Ahimota Melcom is the Melcom Group’s 38th Branch and it has a new standards for ensuring safe and a secure environment for all businesses.

The magnificent edifice is a four (4) storey reinforced concrete structure with a single level basement parking lot. It also has a concrete roof top with parapet walls purposely designed to serve as a Roof Top Patio. The building has been duly constructed as per the approved structural designs.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Director of Communications, Melcom Group Mr. Godwin Avenorgbe, stated that Melcom is creating jobs and the same time upgrading the skills of Ghanaians to take up commanding heights of the Company.
“Out of the 38 Melcom Brand Managers 34 are Ghanaians and by February next year 2018, Melcom will only have one Expatriate Branch Manager,” he stated.

According to him, every year Melcom organizes a special commemorative Buy Ghana Sales event on a platform, Made- In- Ghana, for exclusive promotion of Ghana Made products.

This he said, Achimota Melcom will become of the principal centres for Made- In- Ghana Promotions.
Melcom began operations in 1989. And currently operating in the ten regional capitals and we extending services to the Metropolitan Areas and Districts.

“While we aim at satisfying our customers’ desire for convenience and variety; safety and security have become even more paramount in our overall attitude for doing business in Ghana”, he stated.

We have already made public summary of all observations with regards to quality control during the construction phase of the structural frame work.

That report states:
• The reinforcement were installed in accordance with the structural design.
• The strength of the concrete mix was in compliance with specific designs strength.

The Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry Hon. Robert Ahomka- Lindsey who graced the occasion commended Melcom Group of Companies for the enormous contributions they have made towards job creation in the country. And also, by promoting Made-In- Ghana Products; adding that such move would go a long way to boost the economic growth of the country.

This he said, government had a very clear strategy on job creation; and that the way to get this done was through industrial transformation.

He also entreated all entrepreneurs to endeavour to improve the environment in which they operate in order to ensure safety and also enhance shopping experience.
