John Mensah
Ghana skipper John Mensah has praised his colleagues for battling their Chilean counterparts to a 1-1 drawn game in their international friendly in Philadelphia, USA, yesterday.
In an exclusive interview with DAILY GUIDE SPORTS he stated: “I am excited about the results, though the Chileans cancelled the lead. The team has done us and the entire country proud.
“I commend my colleagues, technical team and the management members for a good job done. We will build it up from there to win back the confidence reposed in us.
“Some of us couldn’t respond to the national call due to injuries, but those who did made a good representation,” he added.
Kwadjo Asamoah and Sulley Muntari partnered perfectly to set up locally-based substitute Richard Mpong, who fired past goalkeeper Claudio Bravo for the opener three minutes to the end of the first half.
Ghana however failed to hold on to the slim lead, allowing the 12th World ranked side to cancel the lead from a spot kick through Matias Fernandez in the 75th minute.
Ghana paraded about seven debutants, after their Nations Cup fiasco.
