Comedian Michael Blankson has expressed frustration regarding the repercussions of his recent comments about haircuts, which he claims have negatively impacted his investments.
In a post on X, he revealed that his assistant in Ghana had received threats following Blankson’s candid social media posts about his experiences in the country.
“My assistant in Ghana called me yesterday and said he was getting threats because of my tweets,” Blankson wrote, his voice tinged with concern and worry.
“Let me get this straight: I return home out of love and passion, but after getting robbed, I share my story, and now my people are threatened. Smh.”
Blankson also discussed his investment in bonds, lamenting his challenges.
He explained that he had researched Ghana’s bond system, believing it would provide stable funding for a school he supports.
“I figured $1 million would yield $10,000 monthly to cover expenses like salaries, lunch, and utilities.
I received one payment, and it stopped. It’s been two years, and I’ve had to find that $10,000 each month,” he stated, his disappointment palpable.
The comedian criticised African leadership, emphasising governance’s urgent need for selflessness.
“Great leadership starts from a young age, which is why I focused on education,” he said.
“We need to teach our kids to be passionate and caring leaders.
Our continent is filled with leaders prioritising their needs over those of the people. May God have mercy on us.”
