Essien Speaks To Black Stars ? We Will Beat Sudan, Says Midfielder
Michael Essien has spoken to the Ghana team to assure them that they can beat Sudan on Friday to keep their 2014 World Cup dreams alive despite his three-year absence from the Black Stars.
The Real Madrid powerhouse midfielder is keeping is attention firmly fixed on the match on Omdurman on Friday which has led him to stay in constant touch with the Black Stars to boost their confidence.
The midfielder, who is likely to return to Chelsea at the start of the season after ending his loan spell at the Spanish giants, has revealed that he has been speaking to the players about the match against the Nile Crocodiles.
Essien says he spoke with midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu about the upcoming match to assure them they can defeat the Sudanese even though they are playing away from home.
?I have been staying in touch with the players to give them confidence that they can achieve victory over Sudan. It is a crucial match and we will win,? Essien told Asempa FM.
?I spoke with Agyemang Badu this morning and he says everyone is fine and they are ready for the match. Ghanaians should support the team and pray for the team for victory.
?The boys are capable of beating Sudan away from home and they all have my full support to make the history we all want to see.?
Ghana must beat Sudan to keep alive their hopes of reaching the final phase of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
The Black Stars are one point adrift of group leaders Zambia who have immensely benefited from three free points they got from the FIFA boardroom following a protest against Sudan.
