The Birim Central Municipality has been promised of 400 of the 10,000 dust bins being distributed by the Local Government and Rural Development nationwide.

The promise was made during a visit to Akim Oda in the Eastern Region, by Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD). He was accompanied by Madam Mavis Ama Frempong, Deputy Eastern Regional Minister.
The two Deputies held meeting with the staff of the Assembly, Heads of Departments and other civil societies, at the Municipal Assembly Hall at Akim Oda.
Mr. Agyekum stressed the need to work in a healthy environment, and reminded the attendees that: ?Cleanliness is next to Godliness?.
The Deputy Minister asserted that for the region to contribute its quota towards national progress and development, workers should embrace sanitation as a key component of their daily routine work.
?This means you will not compromise littering the streets, communities and the household? adding that, throwing rubbish on the streets and gutters would not augur well for an up-growing municipality like Akim Oda.
Madam Frempong reminded the gathering that working for one?s country needed selfless and conscious approach to execute such task.

She assured the Assembly that the bins were ready for collection at her office in Koforidua.
Mr.Kwabena Nkansah Asare, Municipal Chief Executive, thanked the two ministries for their efforts to see Birim Central in a healthy state.

He said his aim was to work hard to make Akim Oda the capital of the Municipality.
