The Nasarawa state police command has reported that a group of youths in Masaka, Karu local government area has burnt one person alleged to be a motorcycle snatcher to death.
According to ASP Ismaila Umar-Numan, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state police command, who confirmed the incident when he spoke with newsmen in Masaka, investigations are ongoing to arrest the perpetrators of the act.
He said: ?We have received information this morning that some angry youths in Karu local government area of Nasarawa state has burnt one person to death.
?It is mob action and investigation is on to know what actually happened. We have mobilised our men to the scene of the incident. On reaching there, they discovered that the incident was true.
?It is a mob action but I want to call on the people of this area and the state at large not to take the law in to their hands?.
He therefore called on the people of the state to be law abiding and to live in peace.
He called on the people of the area to remain calm and to cooperate with the law enforcement agents in order to make the area and the state a free crime society for the benefit of all.
The PPRO also urged members of the public to always give vital information to the police in order to curtail criminal activities.
An eyewitness account stated that some ?okada? boys at the Masaka U-turn beat and stoned the suspect to death before setting him ablaze.
