In a grand celebration of its 15th anniversary, MobileMoney LTD (MML) has honored its high-performing partners, agents, and merchants who have played a pivotal role in the growth and success of MTN MoMo in Ghana.
The awards event, held in Accra, brought together key stakeholders in the financial technology (FinTech) industry to recognize their contributions to driving financial inclusion and digital innovation over the past decade and a half.
The National Awards night, which crowned a series of anniversary activities, was a testament to the transformative impact of MTN MoMo on Ghana’s financial landscape. Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of MobileMoney LTD, Shaibu Haruna, expressed gratitude to the Bank of Ghana and its partners for their unwavering support and collaboration.
“After 15 years, we are happy to say that we have co-created and contributed significantly to Ghana’s FinTech industry through direct and indirect employment of Ghanaians. We continue to contribute significantly to government revenue, facilitate business growth, and create digital entrepreneurs. Above all, the platform has brought dignity to many Ghanaians through the transformative power of financial inclusion,” Haruna said.
Highlighting the future prospects of MTN MoMo, Haruna emphasized the opportunities in digital payments, cross-border transactions, insurance, investment, and e-commerce. He reiterated the company’s ambition to provide “financial freedom” for every Ghanaian in the next decade, a goal he believes can be achieved through strategic partnerships and innovation.
“We continue to see significant opportunities in digital payments, cross-border payments, insurance, investment, and e-commerce. These are opportunities that we can co-create and develop in the future. Our ambition for the next decade is to provide ‘financial freedom’ for every Ghanaian, and this we hope to achieve through partnerships,” Haruna concluded.
The awards ceremony recognized outstanding contributions across various categories, celebrating the individuals and organizations that have been instrumental in the success of MTN MoMo. Among the notable awardees was Archie Hesse, CEO of Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS), who was honored as the FinTech Champion of the Decade for his transformative influence on Ghana’s FinTech landscape.

Most Innovative Product of the Year: Agent Flex by Tyra and FAB, for broadening MoMo’s utility and accessibility.
Organizations supporting MoMo’s mission to drive financial inclusion were also recognized. The Electricity Company of Ghana was named Government Partner of the Year, while Keed Ghana Limited received the Corporate Partner of the Year award.
