Maritzburg United?s Ghanaian striker Mohammed Anas is settling in quickly to the Premier Soccer League.?
The 20-year-old has been in top shape on his debut season and scored six goals in 17 matches for the Team of Choice.
He came from the Swazi league and has proved an instant hit.
The former Golden Boys Academy player speaks to Maritzburg United official?s website about his impact, career goals and more.
Mohammed, would you agree that you have made a very promising start to your career in the PSL with the Team of Choice:
Yes, so far it has gone well and I?m happy overall. But I still need to work hard to reach my goals, and I plan to do this together with my team-mates. I have been warmly welcomed by the management, technical team, and players, and my family and I are really enjoying ourselves in this city.
Can you tell us how you came to sign for United?
I was playing for the Golden Boys academy back home in Accra as a youngster. Then I went to Swaziland, and while playing there, Doc Khumalo (Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach), saw me playing, and he invited me for trials. But I was not able to get a contract there, and later when the chance came to join Maritzburg, I was very happy to go.
How have you found the PSL?
Its been great so far. Not easy, but a good challenge. You really have to fight for everything.
Any matches or goals that stand out for you?
All games are important for me, I am focussed and want to do well in every game. My favourite goal was the one I scored against Bidvest Wits, it was passed to me and I just connected very well, it was a beautiful goal.
What are your goals for the rest of the season.
I don?t have any personal goals, I just want to help the team do well, to make sure we get a top eight finish, and to see where God takes us.
